Using the cycles in the gym query?!


Question: Hi doing 30 minutes daily cycling in the gym to get fit and toned. Which cycle is best for this the recumbant one or the vertical one?

For the most part they are equal. It's a matter of preference to be upright or seated. I use the recumbent because of an old knee injury...it's not a problem pushing the peddles outward away from the body rather then giving them more weight to push away and downward in the upright bike position...I've used both, the recumbent is just more comfortable for me and doesn't cause pain in the knee..

sorry i dont have the answer!! i've been wondering lately about that to... i'm off to the gym tonight i think i may ask a trainer and see what they say! i'll let u know...

I personally prefer the vertical one especially when I sit down on the saddle and it goes right up my rusty star.

Reclining is better if you have back problems, otherwise I think they're pretty much the same.
