Need everyones quick opinion...Is Yoga benefiting for athletes?!

Question: I'm a 23 year old male and my sport of choice is football soccer. I have been thinking of taking Yoga classes at my local community college to see if and or how much they would benefit my all around performance. Anyone in her experience or have heard of it's benefits in relation to sports?

Incredibly so, it will GREATLY contribute to flexibility, muscular endurance, balance, and injury prevention, and depending on the type you study will also provide good cardiovacular conditioning.

I'm a recreational powerlifter and after a few weeks of yoga I saw my bench press max go up must faster than it had before because my shoulders were so open.

You should do it. It stretches your body so you are less prone to injury, muscle pain, and tearing of any ligament.

As I understand it, yoga can keep you flexible which can help with agility and injury prevention.

i play soccer/football
you need flexibility in sport - it's one of the components of fitness, gives you a larger range of movement at a joint

plus it reduces the risk of injury, i do a bit of yoga now :D

have fun

I am taking yoga right now... its very relaxing and good for the body. Yoga teaches balance and is very good for the body.
