A question about starvation mode..I dont think it's real, is it?!

Question: I'm 5'8 and i weight 144.8 but i want to be 120lbs or less.
I eat 500-600 calories a day + exercise. I know that the body will stop burning calories and starvation mode wll make me fat, right? but i stay like this long enough the body has to burn calories sooner or later no? it can't store calories forever.. how am i going to burn 300 calories in the gym them? it's no true that everything i eat will become fat because 600calories a day - 300 exercise thats only 300 calories consumed! and the body has to use some calories sooner or later no? so it's 0 right???

this whole starvation mode is not real...thats just for people who starve for 1 week and then eat like pigs the next month.

Try cutting your calorie intake down gradually, that way your body will get used to it. And as with the exercise, increase the amount you do gradually whilst you decrease the amount of food you eat. Starvation mode only happens when you don't eat much for a few days, and then eat a lot in one go. Also, if you want to come off the diet then increase the amount of food you eat gradually, that way you won't put the weight back on. Hope this helps.

You are wrong, sorry.

Starvation mode is completely real and it totally undoes all your hard work in the gym. When your body is starving, you consume your own muscle to fuel your activities. Then, any calories you have coming in will go to fat. You may weigh the same, but your body fat keeps rising as your lean mass keeps dropping, and that's not healthy! You can be in and out of starvation mode several times in a day. It doesn't take that long at all.

You should be eating at least TWICE what you are now, even if you are trying to lose weight.

Starvation-mode is real. It has to do with yo-yo dieting.

BTW: if you continue with your regimen, you will become malnurished and die. Just thought you'd like to know.

It's a myth anybody that tells you the less you eat the more you will get fat ask them to provide some proof of what their saying lol.

It is real...if you drop your calories too much your body will adapt and your metabolism will slow. If you think about it, it's actually a good thing...your body thinks it's starving and will therefore try to prolong your life by burning stored fat at a slower pace. Try this instead:

Cut 250-500 calories a day and work out to burn 250-500 calories a day as well. At the upper amount, this will create a calorie defecit of 1,000 calories a day or 7,000 calories a week. This equates to 2 lbs (3,500 calories = 1 lb). However, don't do more than that...a good rule of thumb is not to lose more than 1% of your body weight per week, so 1.5 lbs a week should be the most you want to lose per week...this will help you keep the weight off after you reach your goal.

Also, if you starve yourself chances are you will relapse (I'm not taking a shot at your will-power, it's just VERY tough to do). If that happens, you'll be worse off then when you started.

'this whole starvation mode is not real...thats just for people who starve for 1 week and then eat like pigs the next month.' um no, and I find that very insulting.
starvation mode comes when you are anorexic and if you stay that way for a long eventually it will change. starvation mode is just the beggining. once you get past it, it all changes-and that is when your body eats itself. so its just like a platuea or however you spell it.

Starvation mode is real. When you stop eating your body doesnt know when it will get its next meal. It doesnt realize that there is food all around you. Your body stops burning calories and saves up as much fat as possible so that you can survive. Just becouse a machine at the gym tells you that you lost 300 callories doesnt meen you really did. Thats just how much the average person your hight and size should have lost. You need to have at least 1500 calories a day to survive. It sounds like you have an eating disorder and a little bit like your panicking and are in denial, saying that starvation mode even exists. It sounds funny but the best way to lose weight is to eat five times a day. If you eat all healthy unprosessed foods with natural sugars it will make you lose weight. You cant live without sugars although the presence of unatural sugars in your blood stream will prevent the loss of fat. So if you eat foods with natural sugars (berries, fresh fruit, ect) you will be much healthier and lose weight quicker. You should see some help as well. Eating disorders can kill, my sisters best friend was just weeks from dying in the hospital before she finally started eating properly again. You sound absessed with becoming lighter and losing calories, starving yourself will only kill you.

Basically what you just said is, I starve myself. I hesrd this could make you fat? When will my body succumb?? Look, 600 calories a day is not good. You need more then that, especially because you are tall. I am really short, I'm about 5'0, and because of that my recommended amount of calories are 1200 rather then 2000. However, you are tall, and you eat half of what I should. If you want to lost wieght, you need to eat more often. Not "more", just more often. 6 meals a day, every 2 hours. So if you eat breakfast at 10 am for instance--which is super important, dont ever skip breakfast--then have a snack -such as a yogurt-at 12pm and then have lunch at 2pm, have a snack at 4pm, and later dinner at 6pm. Never eat past 7 pm.

If you keep doing that to yourself, this is what is going to happen:

You body will eat your muscles--ie your heart, your bones, and when it can no longer do that, it will eat your organs.
