Does gatorade really help in physical performance?!

I know that gatorade is good for vigerous exercise because it does replenish your body. Water can actually do harm when you exercise hard because it's just putting back in water. When you exercise you lose salt and other nutrients. Gatorade gives you back that salt that you actually do need in your body, among with electrolytes, etc... I'm assuming that Powerade does the same too. Lately there's been commercials as to why you'll have to work out more when you drink Gatorade when you work out, but if you're doing an intense workout, chances are you're already burning off the calories you'd be putting back in you anyway.

Bottom line, if you're exercising like an hour a day and/or trying to lose weight then drink water. If you're doing an intese workout for at least 2 hours a day then you should drink Gatorade and drinks alike.

its just to keep you hydrated..i`d rather take green tea or lime water

gatorade is nothing but sugar, thats your fuel. its all bs
