Not eating and losing weight?!


Question: so i have asked if not eating helps lose weight and everyone was saying u wont lose any weight now tell me if i wouldnt lose weight how are anorexic people so skinny? you obviously lose weight from not eating

It's not that you absolutely won't lose weight, but not eating is not a healthy way to lose weight and maintain that weight loss.
Try this...
-- Eat 5-6 small meals per day.
-- Target eating around 500 less calories per day than you burn.
-- Eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.
-- Drink 64 oz of water per day.
-- Cut out high fat and high sugar foods.

maybe ur right but do u really want to end up like those models

YOU'RE WRONG,
not eating is even worse, if you don't eat for say 3 months and then you see yourself as skinny then you start eating again you will gain even MORE weight.
the healthy way is eating healthily and doing regular exercise.

That isn't the answer! Put it this way if you stop eating to lose weight then what happens when you start eating so you won't die? That won't work!!!

Sure if you NEVER eat your body will become super skinny and frail. Do you want to become sick and frail? The reason people say that you won't keep the weight off is because some people starve themselves initially to lose weight and then when they go back to eating normally their body takes that and immediately stores it as fat because it hasn't had any nutrients. When you starve yourself, your body also loses muscle mass in addition to fat. The one thing you DON'T want to lose is muscle mass. Exercise with a combo of cardio and weight training and eat healthy and clean and you will lose weight.

well if you don't eat for a week, and then you start again because you lost the weight you wanted then you would gain a lot of weight because your metabolism will have slowed down so much.... So unless you plan on never eating again, you're probably going to gain weight... xP...

Anorexics are not just skinny, they are sick and emaciated, and often on the verge of being put in a coffin.

If you wish to die, then go ahead and lose weight in the most stupid and brainless way possible.

If you wish to live a long, healthy life, however, and favour that above looking like a twig, I suggest eating healthily, getting plenty of exercise and realising there is more to life than being a size 0 that most people wont care about anyway!

there is a difference between loosing weight and being anorexic anorexia is a decease and being overweight not really consider as a decease so do not compare apples with pancakes

yeah it works to lose weight.
but what people tend to do is get hungry (when you starve yourself you get REALLY hungry, you have to starve yourself to know how hard it is) and then they eat more. and your body holds onto calories and stores them as fat. when you eat all you do is gain more. just exercise more and eat less it really is as simple as that! or if you wanna end up in intensive care so be it.

By not eating, at some point you WILL have to eat and when you do--you WILL binge and overeat to make up for lost time. By doing that, you WILL gain more weight than whatever you lost which means you are working in the opposite way. It sounds as if you think anorexic people look so great or something. They look so awful and its sad that they see themselves as fat even though they clearly are not. Anorexic people do eventually eat but when their health gets so bad and they are forced to eat they can actually die and have complications with their health as a result of NOT eating!! People die from that eating disorder, several models actually died as a result of anorexia nervosa. Their health deterioriated as a result of not eating being malnourished!

Bulumic ppl actually eat and at times overeat to the point that they will throw up or they force themselves to throw up. That ruins your insides! Anorexia and bulumia have awful side effects like hair loss, teeth rotting out, low energy, severe depression and anxiety. All of this leads to death if the person is not helped! Why would anyone ever want to be this way? It is so sick and sad!

The real way to lose weight (that will actually STAY OFF) is eating healthier foods INSTEAD of foods not so healthy! Also working out and getting all the nutrients you need to be healthy. Seriously, if you are not overweight or have a serious health issue, there is no real reason to lose weight! Your goal should be to be HEALTHY not skinny its a BIG diff.


To address the other answerer...not eating as in starving yourself is COMPLETELY diff from "fasting" for other purposes that dont include weight loss...Do not be ignorant!!

Not exactly. Well you may loose weight on a 3 day fast. But you will put it back on once you begin eating.

To explain weight loss.
If you currently eat 2500 calories and maintain your weight with your current level of activity.
If you reduce your calories in by 400 calories per day +add 100 calories burned additional exercise.
400+100=500 calories per day
x7 days a week
3500 calories per week = 1 pound weight loss

The problem is your body realized it no longer needs to burn that 2500 calories a day and reduces the number to 2100 calories.
2500 - 400 = 2100 calories

Now your dieting eating the 400 calories less and not loosing any more weight because your body is only burning the 2100
calories. So folks give up on the diet and go back to eating the 2500 calories a day, but since the body is still only burning the 2100 calories folks who quit diets tend to gain their weight back and more.

Why are anorexic people so skinny they eat a reduced calorie diet and do lots of exercise. Like a 1000 calories or less a day diet and 500-1000 calories of exercise so they loose not only body fat but body muscle as well and that is why they are so thin. It is not healthy to be so thin that your loosing body muscle. That is why so many anorexic people wind up in the hospital.
