A 'six-second heart rate' is one way to estimate your 'BPM' heart rate (the usual measure in medicine and sport).

By counting the number of beats you can feel (with a finger at your wrist or neck) in six seconds, you can multiply the result by 10 (like, add a '0') to make the number of Beats Per Minute.

Use fingers, not your thumb. Feel the 'thumb side' of your inner wrist, just above your wrist bones, or between the muscles on each sude of your throat.

Or, just put your hand in the middle of your lower ribs, or slightly to the left.

When you count, start with 'zero', NOT 'one'. If you don't do this, your BPM figure will be at least six beats higher than the real figure.
