How can i lose like 20-30 pounds?!

Question: i am like 5' 1" and 3/4 inches but i weigh 140 or around that. I don't know how i got this much, (freshman 15 i guess?)

i don't (and won't) go to the gym because it's embarrassing. and it's hard to exercise because I have roommates and live in a small dorm.

I usually walk to classes every day, and i have a dance class on wednesday nights from 6:30-8:18 or so.

Usually I eat dinner at about 6 or somewhere before that, but then i can't go to sleep because i'm so hungry and i end up having to go down to the vending machine and eating whatever.

usually i walk to the cafeteria, get some food and walk back. I'll usually get an apple, soup, yogurt or brownie, and an entree, which is usually battered fish or pasta with chicken or a sandwich

i've never been on a diet before, and I don't know how to do it or what kind of exercise to do. something easy, because i'm really weak and i run out of breath fast. I have no idea what i'm doing. If anyone knows a good plan or website, help pls

You are feeling weak because you probably aren't getting enough nutrition. You should have a good breakfast with most of your daily vitamins in it. Or a poached egg or toast.
Going to a vending machine for food is not a good idea.
So you live in a dorm? Hmm, it's going to be harder for you to eat healthy then. Buying food out sometimes is ok, but it's better if you prpare most of your meals yourself.
Cafeteria food may seem healthy but it usually isn't. The apple is fine, but what's in that soup, yoghurt and brownie?
It might be ok but just don't always eat that food. There should be some healthy food shops around?
You need to stop going to the vending machine after dinner. Drinking water between meals will make you less hungry.

Walk at least an hour, non-stop, per day

The body is designed to walk. Research shows that slow, rhythmic movement exercise, such as walking, resets your body
