I haven't lost weight but....?!

Question: I've been on a diet plus exercising for the last 2 weeks. I haven't lost any weight, but I've lost a total of 3 inches off my body already. Could I just be gaining muscle or what?

Yes you are probably gaining muscle. It weighs more than fat, so that is why you are seeing the numbers change on the measuring tape, but not on the scale. As your body begins to realize that you are exercising now, it will start to burn your storage fat and the pounds will begin to come off. If you are lifting weights and want to see the scale move, I recommend very light weights in order to tone, and more repetitions.

Yes.

Erae,

Sometimes it is a lot more than just diet and exercise. Check out some interesting things that helped me lose a ton of weight at;

yeaaah
when i exercise a lot, i tend to even gain weight
but i look skinnier.
muscle is heavier than fat.

yes- depending on what you are doing in the ways of exercise (cardio, etc) you could be gaining muscle before you lose weight. Most females when they do cardio and training gain muscle (gross i know) first, then with the muscle they then lose the fat.

It does seem like you are gaining muscle and that is excellent. I always say I rather be 150lb of solid muscle than 140 lbs of flab :) Keep taking those inches off baby!!!

Yah its probably muscle if ur dropping inches! thats really good! its not ablou how much you weigh its how you look! ur doing Great!

yea you're gaining muscle

yup, muscle is heavier than fat. so chances are you;ve lost fat, but have gained muscle, and the two have cancelled each other out, although your weight may still be the same, i can bet you anything your figure is much more flattering

Losing inches off your body is key to getting in shape it's not just losing weight. So it might be a little muscle coming in but keep eatting right and exercising and the weight should be coming off with some more inches.

well..maybe dont eat!!! omg not that hard! hope you dont gain weight bye

Hey, don't expect to just loose wight just like that, and gaining muscle tekes longer than just 2 weeks. Slowly you are shreding calories, but it will be okay! Keep up the job, ill support ;P

Yes. Muscle weighs more than fat keep that in mind. If you dont like all the muscle gain try something like skipping, honestly that is the best exercise! I do it everyday and thats all i need:)

Don't forget to get lots of protein.
Keep up the good work, all in good time.

im not sure, i stay skinny by eating some foods, i mean im not as skinny as a stick but im 16 and I weigh 72 pounds.

lol, is that fat, im not sure

anyway, I dont eat chicken unless its fast food lol, i dont eat hamburgers, no bacon, no eggs, no, well no anything. I do eat a lot of hot dogs, pizza, spaghetti, fruit. And some other sweet :) things. :)

I dunno if that helps. :)

Yea its very possible you might be just gaining muscle. also some people dont realize that the more carbs or calories you in take the more your body has to burn and it works faster to burn them. If you eat less than normal your body works slower to break it all down.

yup, that is muscle gain, which is great. muscle automatically burns fat off your body. that is why adding muscle is so important, but like in your case, you see that despite being in better shape you will be heavier, but it is good weight. congrats! keep it up!

Tell us your diet. Tell us your exercises routine. I'm going to go against what all of the people have said so far and tell you, no it is not muscle. You are imagining that you are losing 3 inches. I guess I am the only one that realizes how much weight 3 inches around the body is. In addition to just imagining it, you are probably holding water weight because you are not drinking enough of it. You need to tell us your exercise and your diet for us to be sure, but I know that you are not going to get instant gratification and see 3 inches just fall off in two weeks.
Let's say you lost your 3 inches or 20-40 pounds off your waist in just two weeks. You would be near dead because that is going to send your body into shock. Lets say you added 20-40 pounds of muscle back on to fill in that 20-40 pounds you lost off your waist. That would be impossible. Men can regenerate and build muscle much faster than women because they have testosterone, yet they can't put on 20 pounds in a year. This tells you something....... everyone but one person who answered before me was wrong when they told you it was muscle you were gaining. Hell, when I am on a cycle (of steroids) I can only gain about 15 pounds of muscle in 8 weeks. This just proves that you are not gaining muscle.
The only thing the people have right is, muscle does weight more than fat.

I hope I helped you and if you have other questions, feel free to email me.

yes you are probably gaining muscle.. And muscle does weigh more that flab...
