In the news recently they said there was no proof 8 glasses of water is actually!

Question: If they proved chocolate and greasy food don't affect your skin than how can they know water helps it? does anyone else believe it? what do you think?

I heard that study on the radio, and was curious about the results myself;
That drinking more water doesn't do anything for your skin,
That since our bodies are composed of 80% water there is no reason to replenish it after long athletic endevors etc,
and that drinking more water actually makes your kidneys work harder.

The conclusion by the 'doctor' was that you're just as well off drinking sports drinks and diet soda.
...So i looked into those guys.

The data provided was from a non-independant study, persued by an unnamed, albeit large consumer subsidiary.
The doctors and researchers were privatley hired to do the study.
There is no actual evidence for their 'findings'. The study was released with no sources listed, or any kind of official stamp of approval from the medical community.

So...Thinking logically, (and i'm really not going out on a limb here) take for example the ONE point about our being made of water, and that we don't need any after sweating or working very hard. You have to drink something, because we all know people can only live for a few days without water. These 'doctors' are trying to draw conclusions saying that drinking anything will be good for you, but diet soda's contain artificial sweeteners, like sacharin and aspertame which have both been directly linked to many kinds of cancer. The sugar and salt in sports drinks both refresh and dehydrate you.

When it was stated that drinking more water makes your kindneys work harder is should be taken with a grain of salt. Your kindeys cleanse your urine, and more water means more pee. It is the ingredients like sugar, preservatives and additives that you should really be worried about building up in your kidneys, not pure clean water. The more water goes through, the cleaner they are.

Which brings us back to the skin -
If your body is clean, and the water is flushing out toxins, then you are healthier all over. Water cleanses the body. Drink it when you are thirsty.

I think this whole 8 glasses of water thing is just an 80s fad that never died out. Sure, it is good to drink enough, but there is nothing that says pure water on it's own is any better for you than tea or coffee without sugar etc.

HA! cant wait to tell my mother! .

water is better than sugary drinks and soda. i think thats the point. i bet they cant prove its any better than fresh juice tho.

The topic of drinking eight glasses of water a day is being debated. Some experts have said that something less than that is better, like six or five, to take the stress off your system having to process the water and excess water retention happening. Remember some folks are drinking coffee, tea, soda and then STILL drinking their eight glasses of water which puts a strain on the system. Stay abreast on the research. I know that when I drink six glasses of water a day I feel pretty good and clean. But eight can make me go a lot and sometimes I feel bloated. So maybe some adjustments need made. I like Brita water and it's cheaper than soda.

I believe

I work out side in the heat and sweat a lot I need to refuel my body with carbohydrates, proteins and electrolytes (yes same carbohydrates are good for you) and the easies way to do this is by drinking water throw out the day. I drink about 60oz of water a day in the in summer and that's just at work, Gatorade fruit juices, whole fruits and vegetables are a good source of for refueling your body as will.

But you the other hand No you don't need 8 glass of water a day to refuel your body, a few of your fruits and vegetables or mostly water. I have found a web page that everyone should read about water in take if you have question why you should drink 8 glass a day I hope everyone will book mark the page and read it when you get a chance

Happy drinking to all (water that is)

Staying safely hydrated

It's generally not a good idea to use thirst alone as a guide for when to drink. By the time one becomes thirsty, it is possible to already be slightly dehydrated. Further, be aware that as you get older your body is less able to sense dehydration and send your brain signals of thirst. Excessive thirst and increased urination can be signs of a more serious medical condition. Talk to your doctor if you experience either.

To ward off dehydration and make sure your body has the fluids it needs, make water your beverage of choice. Nearly every healthy adult can consider the following:

Drink a glass of water with each meal and between each meal.
Hydrate before, during and after exercise.
Substitute sparkling water for alcoholic drinks at social gatherings.
If you drink water from a bottle, thoroughly clean or replace the bottle often. Refill only bottles that are designed for reuse.
