Get off that d===mn diet! That and Adkins or any other DIET. It used to be the "Cabbage Soup " DIET.

Ok, ok....I'll tell you how to lose weight. First of all, you never "go on a diet". To "go on a diet" means that one day, you will "go off the diet". When you go off, you will begin to put back on all the weight you took off and generally more.

The word "diet" is not something to go on. It is a "way of eating". You change your "diet", you change the way you eat. Before, you ate and gained weight. Now you want to eat and not gain weight. By doing that you will automatically lose weight and it will be something you can live with the rest of your life if you choose.

You should NEVER GO HUNGRY!!!!!!!! That is a sure fire road to failure! Nobody likes to go hungry. You are NOT A RABBIT!!! So don't eat like one, OK?

Here's what you do......go to Walmart and spend $5 and get you a paperback calorie counting book.

In it will be listed virtually everything a human would want to put into their mouth.

Limit your daily calories to 1500/day if you are a girl and 2000 cal/day if you are a guy. No LESS!!!

Spread those calories out anyway you want.

Eat healthy. Something you have not been doing up to now, and in your future you may want to lose even more weight.

Do not eat any fats/oils while you are trying to lose.
That means: no fast food (loaded with fats), no pizzas, chips and other snacks. NONE! After you've lost your weight, you can fit some in here and there and treat yourself.

No red meats. Not good for you because of the hidden fats in them. Limit your dairy foods to low fat/no fat dairy. But be sure you eat dairy foods.

No regular sugar or sweets. Only artificially sweetened foods and drinks. Splenda is wonderful and you can cook/bake with it.

You can eat lots and lots of skinless chicken (the skin has a lot of fat), any kind of fish or seafood, lean pork (no sausage or bacon because of the fat). Any of these can be cooked anyway you want EXCEPT fried. Remember, oil is fat!!

Eat lots and lots of veggies. All kinds...As many as you want. Cook them any way you want to except fried. (You know why). You can stir fry them with some cooking spray only.

Use butter flavoring or Molly McButter to sprinkle.

Limit your fruits. They are wonderful but loaded with natural sugars and one may outdo themselves quickly!

Limit your carbs to one serving per meal. If it is white it is a carb and all breads, no matter what color or whole grain they are, they are a carb.

Learn to read labels to see what a portion size is and how many calories are connected to that portion size. You can always eat twice the amount and double the calories of that food as long as you figure it into the day's totals!

So, forget about all the dietetic foods and junk like that. Eat good wholesome food and lots of it, just follow the advice above and exercise 20-60 minutes every day and you WILL lose weight and tone up. This is a way of life and a way of eating you can live with the rest of your life and be healthy!!

bojean for PRESIDENT! Good answer right above mine. She could not have said it better. I am 35 years old and due to several medical issues have a horrible time losing weight. I began gaining AFTER the birth of my second child and now I am about 30-40 lbs overweight. Diets are not realistic because you will do that for whatever amount of time and then when you eat your normal ways again you gain it back. I have been on them ALL.

I could keep talking but bojean above has said it all. diets don't work. changing for your lifetime your eating habits do work and also excercise and strength building exercise because muscle burns fat.
