Im under weight and i dont know how to gain more weight and stay healthy?!


Question: im 12 1/2 and 5ft. i weigh 72 lbs. im trying so hard to gain wieght but its so hard. im trying to stay healthy and in shape but i lose weight some times too! i play travel softball so i have to run around a tone and eat healthy so i stay in shape but i dont know how to do it and gain weight!

I have a friend who was underweight when she was her age. Her doctor recommended that she eat nut butters. So if you have any peanut butter, start eating that. Nuts contain a lot of protein and that helps you put on weight. You can also eat a good bit of carbohydrates. Since you want to stay healthy, stick to carbs that are Whole grain. The ones that are not whole grain are just a bunch of sugar.

Lots of protein would be your best bet. Go to a GNC or any health food store around where you live and get protein bars (Big 100, the cookie crunch kind, is really good. It's supposed to be a meal replacement bar, but you can have it as a snack, too.) Protein powder mixed with milk is good. Muscle Milk and Whey Protein are my favorites, and they come in tons of flavors.

you'll probably gain some weight as puberty hits, but if you want muscle (b/c it weighs more than fat) do push ups, and sit ups. Good luck!

From my understanding, if you drink something such as Slim Fast WITH a meal, you add healthy calories.

Listen, im 17 and I weighted 100 since I was 13. Never gained. In time you'll gain. You have a fast motabolism right now. It'll slow down. Believe me. Im now almost 18 and im gaining now. Lol Not much I but I am. Be patient. It'll come
