Where do I get the motivation to start running?!

Good question. I absolutely hated running to begin with. I ran 4km a day when I was younger; I would dread my daily run, but pushed myself to do it because I was really overweight and I figured it would be a good way to shed the kilos. Now I love to run, and have extended my distance to 15km. I lost the weight, and now look on running as less of a chore. My advise would be to a) pick a scenic run or one which you will enjoy absorbing the atmosphere in that area, like a park, or by a river, as this way it removes the focus from how you're feeling, to the beauty of the area around you, or b) run with an ipod, as the music will block out the sound of your breathing, and your footsteps and if its fast music, it will help to speed up your pace. Make sure you like the tunes though, and arrange them in a good order before you run, so that you're not fiddling with the ipod during the run.
One more tip would be to start short. Especially if you're not too fit at the moment. Keep the run the same to begin with, and then when you find it less of a challenge, add another km or start doing time trials.
I now use my runs to clear my mind. If I'm stressed or have a descion to make or just need some time out.
Basically, remove your focus from running, to something else, and it's not half as painful. Stick with it though, running is awesome =]

you never get the motivation, you just do it.

Run after a bus or get a friend to steal something of you and run after them. Tips and stuck in the mud is fun aswell.

It's a lot easier to just start running and you'll good whilst you're running and after you're running. Maybe, like on the biggest loser, buy a smaller size of clothing then that can be your motivation to get into it. (If you're trying to lose weight)

Well,
make a list and write this down:
notice every dis-advantage of bein over weighted.
search a great idol for yourself with a great body that you just want to have!
make yourself confortable with losing weight even with friends and family, so don't think like they may not know that i want to lose weight or so.

then start a slow cardio with music on.
and increase it step by step. goodluck!

im not sure if this will help you but,
my motivation is wanting to be fit! heh..
i have a pair of jeans that i used to look hot in, (about 6 months ago..) and i kept them, so that i can fit into them again.
my ipod also helps a whole lot. it keeps me moving, for sure.

Well it usually starts when the doctor tells you your going to die of heart disease if you don't watch what you eat and get enough exercise.

U could go out to the park and watch people run past you and say to yourself while eating your ice cream "OMG im so lazy!"

I feel like a dork when i go running(hardly ever) but watching ppl run makes me wanna run coz it makes me feel bad just watching em lol
