Excercising for abs?!

Question: When I woke up I did 3 sets ( 30 ) of sit-ups, crunches, bicycles, side crunches, etc. to get abs. I've been doing this since last year and I still don't have abs! Well the truth is I kinda quit on it like four months ago and now I want to work on getting them. I just did 3 sets of sit-ups, crunches, and side crunches. My stomach aches whenever I lay down and get back up. Am I doing too many? I just want abs!! What other excercises can I do at home that will help me get abs? Why does my stomach ache? I have to go to the gym 5 times a week at school and I don't want to feel weak like I can't lift myself up to do a crunch. What can I do to make the ache go away? Please answer all the questions I asked or some.

Your stomach aches because you worked those muscles to death!! Now when it recovers, your stomach muscles will be tougher than ever. That's actually a very good sign believe it or not, to a degree. It may be a sign of overkill, and your muscles have acids in them, tears, etc, but they will recover and that's when they'll get stronger.

Try not to overdo it though.

If you do these exercises daily of course your not gonna get abs your just gonna make it imposible for those moves to do anything at all, if you want a move you can do daily do the lank and side plank

No you're not doing to many abdominal exercises.

Search "ab exercises" on YouTube or Google.

Your stomach aches because your muscles are working hard.

There is nothing you can do to make the ache go away. As you get back into doing these ab exercising each day, you will feel the pain less and less.

So yeah, just don't stop for 4 months again cuz that probably screwed up your potential for abs!!!

Getting sculpted abs takes a while. Doing 30 reps is great to start off with, but you need to gradually add more reps and sets to that number. Also, you have to stretch after ab exercises or else the lactic acid that builds up will make it painful to move! In addition to crunches, sit-ups, etc, you have to up your cardio to burn fat off of those muscles. What you eat is also really important--try to stay away from sugary snacks at late hours.

If you want great results, try a pilates/yoga blend workout. Those exercises are all about strengthening the core; I've loved the results. A good DVD is "Yoga Pilates SlimDown" by Crunch Fitness. Good luck!
