I am addicted to it..!?!


Question: I am addicted and a very faithful drinker to my diet coke. So the other day I am in my car and listening to the radio when I come across a station talking with a nutritionist about the dangers drinking too much diet coke can cause. She was saying that scientist have found that the Aspartame in diet coke can lead to memory loss, dizziness, and even neurological problems. So I guess my question is, why do they still market and sell diet coke? Why don't they take out Aspartame if it is that dangerous?

Opinions on this would be great!

Great question!!!! It's because of $$$. Do you know that diet food/drinks are the biggest profit in this country?? Please stop drinking diet soda...it is so bad for you. One of my co-workers drinks diet Pepsi everyday, more than once a day, and that person is always sick, and recently was diagnosed with cancer in the stomach.
Your body is made up of about 80%water...try drinking spring water.

Too many people drink diet drinks out there on the market with Aspartame in them. Some people don't care whether it's dangerous to drink it or not. My advice to you would be to switch to coke zero...as I understand it doesn't have Aspartame in it.

aspartame is horrible. so is saccharine. most artificial sugars are. but some people still prefer it over sugar because it doesn't have calories. marketers don't really care if it's bad, it works in diet drinks, and people still consume it. high fructose corn syrup is the devil but almost EVERY processed food has it. people don't know what they're consuming. they don't know that artificial sweeteners are worse than the real thing, just how they don't know that margarine is worse for you than butter.

They want to keep the business going. They probably don't take it out because they disagree and want to get more info on it. Or because it may be one of the main components for the taste (like a sweetener)which brings us back to them wanting to keep the business.

Because there are 100 other studies that probably said the opposite. Always make sure you know the details of the study they are citing because people will conduct their studies with the objective of finding something, and that is called bias.

aww hon i know how hard that is. Aspartame is the alternative to sugar. unfortunately it is unhealthy since its artificial flavoring. it is not peril if you use sparingly but too much of anything is bad so to speak. its is an artificial sweetener like equal or sweet and low. too bad they dont make it with splenda which is safer. but try to get off of it! without aspartame, diet coke wouldnt taste very good.

Just like everyone is saying it all about the money. It's like asking why they sell cancer sticks when it kills hundreds a day or why are they still selling gasoline powered cars when there is the electric powered car available. (well i figure if we slowly stop selling gasoline powered cars we would save money and the environment) It's how the economy works, by selling addicting products.

Recent findings on CNN have shown that diet drinks can cause you to gain weight .......now whether that is true or
not i do not know......but i did hear with my own ears that
diet drinks cause weight gain.

Drink water it is healthy and makes you feel better so please do something for yourself and drink water. These are just some things water helps.
