Overweight???!


Question: I'm going to be 12 in June and I'm 4'11-5 ft and I weigh 107-110. Am I overweight?

Just to let you know, I have huge thighs. haha :)

Its normal. Scratch that, You're VERY normal. Im a couple years older than you,5'0, and 104 so we are in the same area. Keep in mind that you are still growing and changing and that its healthy and normal for your weight to go loco.

Remember you are only 12. Your school would have notified your parents if they felt you were overweight. It's good to be aware of weight/health but stop worrying about body type. You are what type you are...be happy with it.

trust me you are not overweighting, I'm going to be 13 in June but I only weight 80 something. don't worry about a thing.

You are still growing at age 12 and hitting puberty. Expect your boobs to get bigger and your hips wider, causing you to gain a little weight. Either way, you are not overweight at all you are just right. Don't change a thing about you!! P.S. you have Body Mass Index of 21.5. And any number between 20-25 is normal!!!

Yes it sounds ok. A female (and some males, too) may go into puberty (sexual maturation) around this age and a weight gain (more so for females than males) is ok. This is due to the increase in hormones, especially ostrogen, which can only be stored in fat tissues in the body. This is also the reason why females must have overall much more fat to be normal (18-24% of their bodyweight) in contrast to a male who can go as low as 5%

wow......... no you are not overweight.......
to be overweight is exceeding your ideal body weight by 10% and height and weight charts are misleading....... the number on the scale shouldn't change your mood and make you depress. it doesn't factor into other things like lean body mass, age, or genetics. Plus it's an old chart.
It's good to consider losing some weight if you want.
-- no wonder kids think they're overweight cuz of the super thin models they see everywhere.........

we're the same age and YES, you're completely normal! haaha and thighs are supposed to be big! My best friend went through the same thing when she was our age. You fill out first, and then grow taller! Don't worry!

You are at a healthy weight, but you would look better if you were 95-100 lbs.
