Diet fatigue - is being tired at the start of a low calorie diet normal? how lon!

Question: i am into my second day of a low calorie diet (1000 kcal or less) and am feeling more tired and less energetic than usual. i am only following this diet for a week to kick start my body into a heathier lifestyle. i am eating a healthy vegetarian diet- just with a very low calorie intake. is it normal to feel tired in the beginning? my previous diet whilst being veggie and full of fruit contained high carbs and sugar (i.e. crisps + chocolate).

Very normal.

Your brain can only use sugar for energy unlike the rest of the body which can use fat (or protein).

You get tired because the brain is struggling to stay active.

Either up the carb content by eating more fibrous carbs like veggies and salad or stick with it and battle through.

Good luck

Make sure you don't eliminate too many carbs...they help keep you going!

You're not getting enough calories.

While the fatigue is normal, you should boost it up to 1200-1300. 1000 calories a day is a bit low, and anything below that is technically considered starvation.

The key to losing weight is eating often. Eat a small, 150-250 calorie meal every three hours and you won't feel hungry or excessively tired.

1000 calories or less. No wonder your tired. Not enough calories your getting in. You can still lose weight if you get in 1500 calories. Yes, calories too many are bad but, calories are also energy your body needs. Too low like what you are doing will most likely lead to weight loss but later you will lose motivation and gain the weight back. Try for more calories and give it a few weeks and see how that goes.

Good Luck

1000 calories is too low for anyone ! 1200 should be the lowest. But yes it is normal to feel tired at first because you are giving your body less fuel than you are using.

you'll feel tired for the whole week in which you're only eating 1000 cals or less but it won't kickstart your body in any way or kickstart your healthy eating lifestyle - it'll just slow it down. try replacing crisps and candy for fruit or little packets of raisins, something wholesome

good luck :)
