Why are my shoulder muscles sore, when I only worked on my chest yesterday ?!

Question: I started off bench pressing, then moving to the fly machine.

Back to dumbbells, the flat bench press machine, then finally the sit down bench press machine, whatever you call it ~hahaha

I worked out for 1 hour, and at the end ... I did like 6 or 7 dips !

I may have answered my own question, the dips are the only shoulder shrugging exercise I did yesterday.

I'm new to doing dips !

Could the dips cause the Traps (trapezius) or whatever you call the shoulder neck area ... could dips cause them to feel almost swollen ?
( is this a good muscle to develop )

Should I just take it like a man, and continue today with my arm exercises ? I've been working my arms, and chest mainly.

I'm going to be moving onto my legs, but I just want to get in the rhythm of working out at a steady pace, with a fair amount of weights !

The shoulder muscles are used in a lot of chest exercises especially bench press to stabilize the motions. For this reason you shouldn't work the two too close together during the week.

And yes continue like a man and get onto the arm exercises =P

you can't exercise your chest without moving your arms--think about it
