Is there a way to slow down your metabolism?!


Question: As mentioned earlier, starving yourself is actually the best way to slow down your metabolism. If you are used to eating a lot (in small portions, but all day -- basically you like to snack and eat big meals 3-4 times a day), your metabolism will be faster.

So, if you stop eating as much and starve yourself, you will lose weight for a little bit, but your body will get used to the slow intake and so your metabolism will slow down and turn anything that you consume into fat. Basically, your body went from "burn-mode" to "store-mode".

Don't exercise. Don't walk a lot.

yes, you can take lithium , but it has to be prescribed but it is prescribed for people who can't keep weight on

I'm not sure why you're asking this question, but if it's because you think you're too thin or can't keep any weight on, I'd suggest you talk to your doctor. I dropped to 90 lbs and I COULD NOT figure out why, since I ate like a crazy person. I found out I had a thyroid problem. My metabolism was literally burning my body alive. With medication, I've stablilized and am a normal weight again.
I don't know if that's why you were asking, but I wanted to share my own personal experience. People always make fun of those who actually WANT to gain weight, but that's only because they've never been on the flip side of the coin, where you're so emaciated every bone is showing and people are asking if you're on drugs.

Meditation and diet control put together creates wonderful results.

Eat double the calories recommended for your height/weight ratio and don't exercise. I don't know why you would want to slow your metabolism down unless you are hibernating for the winter....

Slow down the metabolic rate? Talk to your medical doctor not this forum. You will get a lot of advice here but much of it can be considered as dubious at best. Start playing around with metabolic rates and you may find yourself opening up a can you wish you had not.
