When you go to the doctor or hospital and they weigh you do they add pounds?!


Question: Well i went to the ER and they checked my weight and I weighed more than my scale at home, and I checked to see if my scale was right by putting a 10 pound dumbbell on it and it was right. So i really wanna know!!!

no if anything they subtract 3 lbs. for clothes well my doctor does!

No, they most likely just have a more accurate scale than the one you have at home - sorry to be the one to break the bad news!

if you were wearing shoes, or jeans, or carrying your bag when they weighed you, that can really add a lot of weight. even drinking more water than usual can add a few pounds. don't worry about it. no, they don't purposefully "add" pounds, but their scale could still be off.

They don't add pounds--the scales at a doctor's office or ER are going to be more accurate than the ones at your home....like everyone else on here is saying, subtract a couple pounds for your clothing, realize that water can add a lot to your overall weight if you've had a lot of it that day...and also, your true weight is most accurate first thing in the morning right after you wake up, so if you went to the ER during the day and they weighed you, you're going to weigh a little bit more than what your real weight is. Don't stress about it!
