Atkins diet pros and cons?!

Question: Pros is that you can eat what you want as long as it doesn't contain carbs so you don't get hungry. Cons it's bad for you. It's hard on your kidneys and digestive tract. The thinking is that without carbs your body will switch to fat metabolism and it does the problem is you start making massive amounts of keytones and you can become acidodic (change the pH of your body) which can actually kill you.

why? you're perfect,you don't need diets xx

I did the Atkins diet twice, getting the same results: I lost a lot of weight fast and then put it all back on slowly.

The problem is that it isn't healthy for you to eat like that long term. AND you are likely to gain it back when you are finished.

pros lose weight quick cons put it back on even quicker

The atkin's diet, like so many others is not a safe diet. If you ask any doctor they will tell you this. The ONLY plus I will give to the Atkin's diet is that it did in fact save my life. I was on a birth control pill that was literally killing me. I had decided to try out the Atkin's book and in that book they talked about birth control pills and dangers that your doctor will not bring up; yeast infections and etc. I decided to take myself off the pill because my GP would not listen to me and guess what? I went to a new GP a month later and was told that if I hadn't taken myself off that pill I'd be dead right now. So yes, I do credit Atkin's for that....and their salmon burgers weren't bad...the pork rinds though....yuk!
