How can I stay motivated to lose weight and avoid cravings?!

Question: I've never been able to really lose weight before, but Ive been able to maintain it well. Finally I've gotten to a point where I think now or never and Ive started stronger than ever before and have started to see the first few pounds. Its just terribly difficult to keep up the momentum when its such a slow process.

It's been hard for me as well. I drink a lot of water when I feel like snacking or eat a small apple/fruit.

It's IMPOSSIBLE for me. I lost about 22 lbs in 6 weeks and never felt so fit, than I just craved food it got harder and I broke it, I'm not struggling slowly putting all that weight back on, It's a nightmare.

Go low carb and absolutely no sugar. Eat small balanced meals 5 times a day. make it a point to eat before you are hungry. If you wait until you are hungry then you will make a bad choice because you are hungry. A by product of eating often is increasing you metabolism. Try to exercise 45 min per day this could be as simple as walking. If you can't run 45 min walk 1 min run 1 min and gradually increase your running time. It won't be long before you can run 45 min. 45 min is the magic number that your body will start burning fat.

Find someone to work with you. When it comes to staying motivated there's nothing like a buddy to keep your spirits up. If you're going through it all together you can encourage each other to stay on track. Also realize that the motivation usually comes AFTER the start up! The key is to make some lifestyle changes first, rather than wait to get motivated. (Otherwise you'll never want to get moving!) Exercise doesn't have to be a pain in the butt. Do some activity that you enjoy like playing a sport, gardening, or going on a walk through the woods. Walking at least 30 min a day is a very good way to get some exercise in! As far as those cravings go, make sure that you are eating healthy and getting plenty of fiber via whole grains (and fruit and veg) and get some omega-3's (which boost metabolism among being good for your heart) from fish or walnuts.

Keep a picture of someone who inspires you to lose weight on the fridge! Drink green tea if you like it It natuarally curbs cravings. And Think about how great you will feel and how nice you will look every time you think about relapsing. Try not to eat late at night. Find your calorie needs out by speaking with a nutritionist, your doctor, or a fitness consultant. Keeping a food journal can help you stay on track. Eat something tasty each weekend as a reward for working out during the week but don't over induldge... this way you have something to look forward to! Tell your friends and family how important your goal is to you and you need their help to not eat things that you do not wish to eat. Drink lots of water and exercise atleast three times weekly. See your doctor for regular checkups during your weightloss period. You may also consider getting a personal trainer they can be expensive.. but joining a gym can keep you motivated. Good luck future "10" or should I say biggest loser!:-)
