South beach diet and walking?!


Question: I know all diets require exercise. I'm starting the south beach diet and I might not have enough time to exercise so would walking 4 miles to my house be good enough or do I need to run?

I'm pretty sure that the doc that created southbeach wrote that exercise is req'd for the weight loss, but being a cardiologist, he recommends it for health.

In any case, a four mile walk is very meaningful. Cooper the Aerobics expert from the 70's did research and found that walking has a similar effect on the heart as running, in terms of health benefit (not aerobic capacity).

Keep in mind, that doing household chores more vigorously can be a form of exercise too.
