Gaining the motivation to lose weight- how did you do it?!

Question: For a long time, I've wanted to lose a good fifty pounds. But within the last year, I've pretty much stayed the same. It's not that I dont want to be thinner, because I really do, Its just, I dont seem to have any motivation other than the fact that I want to be thinner. Why cant that be enough? How did you motivate yourself?

It's all about lifestyle changes and having people around you that will help keep you focused on your goal. For example, at work when it comes to lunch and eating healthy, it's good to have friends to eat with that will force you to eat healthy (vice-versa). Then there is exercising...you need to find a good, motivated exercising partner that will push you and keep you going. Doing it all on your own is hard, but having an anchor (friend) will keep you going and once you get into a groove of things you'll make the lifestyle changes a habit.

music!!!buy an ipod and go!!!
look at youself in the mirror.......be disgusted...turn disgust into motivation!!!!

I was frustrated with my weight--I now need to lose at least 15 pounds. I'm getting older and the longer I wait, the tougher it'll be. I want to look good in whatever I wear for spring and summer-- and just knowing that I lost the weight will be a good mood lifter. Right now, there's a few size 10 jeans that are wayyy to tight.

i kinda have the same problem i've been overweight for about 2-3 years now ,since i moved away from everyone i knew,i knew/know i need to lose weight i just can't stay motivated everything people told me worked but only for about a week tops then i didn't care anymore,my sister just moved here with me it's been alot easier having her here to go for walks with maybe you just need a buddy to your not bored like I was

My original intention was to look good for my boyfriend. But now it's a habit. To diet, you really have to focus on doing it, it has to be a psychological change too involved.
Be healthier because:
-you'll look good for your spouse, boyfriend, future boyfriend, or friends.
-you'll be much healthier and live longer
-you'll just feel good about yourself because you look good, and eating right and exercise releases hormones that just make you feel better anyways!
-food only makes you feel "good" for a little while, but looking good, eating right, and exercising makes you feel good all the time!!

I set a clothing goal for myself. Basically, I went to store and picked out a dress I like that shows off my legs or arms. I tried it on, and by doing that, I immediately set a weight goal for myself so I could be skinny enough to look good in that dress. Now whenever I feel unmotivated to work out, I think to myself, "If I just lose 5lbs, just think how gorgeous I'll look in that!"

It's kind of hard to explain, but I hope you get what I mean.
