Is it possible for me to get to 45 push ups in two months?!

Question: first off, I have a tall lanky type build. my arms are very long and have very little muscle. I am set to go to boot camp in 60 days. a month ago 5 push-ups would max me out. i got to doing around 20 in a row, but after reading the correct form i have found that mine wont count. when moving to the new correct form. feet together as apposed to apart and having to move my hands much closer to my shoulders, i can do about 5 again. My major problem is that i can push up with no problem, going back down, however feels like my muscles are way to tight and they lock up. is there any certain exercise i can do to get my muscles to loosen up for going back down? and is it even possible for someone as weak as i am to get to doing 40-45 pushups in a row in only two months? A reply from someone would be greatly appreciated because I am FREAKING OUT!

The 'correct' form that you are doing sounds like tricep pushups. Its sounds as though they are very weak- like most peoples are in that area. If i was you, i would start on my knees. Theres no point doing the full push up when you cant even make 10. Start slowly and then build up. I suggest maybe going to the gym, or getting some weights and doing them at home to build up muscle (see below) Im a personal trainer, and my clients have gone from about 10 pushups to 40 in just over a month. If you have any more questions just ask. Good luck!

Yeah it is possible, eat healthy, and train not only your chest for pushups, but try doing other exercises that strengthen your triceps and biceps. When i want to bench more i always try to build up my lats more, so try doing pullups and stuff like that too, to work you back.

Just train all the muscles used in the pushup individually and they will all come together and you will have mad pushup skills........in my opinion i think you can get 100 in 2 months easy if you are consistent

you need to start building up your triceps, once you get to boot camp, you will be doing so many of them, that you be doing just about 60-70 in two min.
I'm in the Army, when i went to boot camp, i couldn't even do one, by the time i finished boot camp, i was doing about 25 in 2 min. now i do 50. so don't worry, you will get it.
good luck!
