Do guys do pilates?!

Question: My younger sister wants to take some pilates classes but my mom can't take her when the classes are on, so she wants me to take her. I figured I'd just take her and wait, but my mom keeps saying I should do the classes too and that it's good for guys as well as girls. Is this true? Do guys do it? I've only seen the infomercial things on tv now and again so don't know much about it. What's really involved in a class? Plus would you wear just a tee and shorts?

Pilates was actually created by a man named Joseph Pilates during the First World War. Though typically more women do it than men, men can also participate just fine. I do pilates, it's really good. You should at least try it :-)
Oh, and a t-shirt is just fine, but I would wear pants. There will be some moves you will do that if someone is positioned right, they'd be able to see up your shorts. So just as a precaution, I'd go for pants.

My brother took yoga with my mom and he enjoyed it. Give it a try and see if you like it or not.

I've done Pilates and I love it.
You can wear a tee & shorts.
I have a Pilates DVD and guys are on it and they do just fine.
Here is a link for pilates videos:

I have never done Pilates, but I have a friend that is a teacher, she has many men doing it here in Europe. It is a very positive technique. I am more into other movement techniques. Try it, and then tell us if you liked it.
As the poster above me said, the technique was created by a man and movement is part of our body. Go for it and enjoy it!!

p.s. Jogging pants perhaps would be more comfortable, unless is very hot where you live
