How can I gain healthy weight in my upper body?!

Question: I'm trying to gain weight in my upper body (shoulder/chest area) without gaining weight in my lower body. Is that possible?
I have really thin shoulders, and I don't want to look so bony in the summer.

Weight training. Basically, you need to build some muscle mass. Not bulk up, but build enough to fill out your frame, and cover those bones. You can target any muscle group you wish, individually. I would target shoulders and chest hard, with high weight/low repititions to build size. Same with back. Also arms, but to a lesser degree. Once the size is there, then switch to low weight and high reps, to tone and maintain. You can shape any body part you wish, actually. You can even enhance breasts, but only to a degree. When you work your chest, pay attention to how the muscles develop. You can actually target the chest muscles specifically enough to make a smaller breast seem larger, as most womens are not equal in size, or you can make them point in a different direction, if one is pointed differently or they both point down, etc. It's all in the workout routine used, so pay close attention to the mirror, and let it be your guide to sculpting your body!

Lift weights.

Push ups! The answer to gaining in your upper body without gaining in your lower body is by targeted strength training. You can't control where you put stored fat on your body (from the foods you eat) but you can control how toned your muscles are. And luckily your trouble zone (shoulder/chest) shows results fairly quickly!

Good luck!
