What can go wrong when exercising? I need to write lots about this?!

Question: Or how something else can turn bad at a healthy living event. Got to get it done, I am aware that you have to be fairly well to exercise. But what about the equipment - it can't really let you down, can it?

Many athletes can over exercise when preparing for an event. I've added a couple of links which give lots of information on how to exercise safely, possible problems and dangers of exercise.

you could be lifting weights and if you have no spotter you could die when the weight comes down on your neck and snaps it

Shoes are the most important. You can get shin splints, stress fracture, knee problems etc.
cant say enough about the shoes

most ppl dont stretch before exercise
and dotn have the right shoes on when jogging
then they end up hurting themselves

that's the only thing that can go wrong during exercising

Your elastic can break in your undies.

u need to stretch have at least a day out between work out to make sure ur mussles mend themselves, dont go on a crash diet do it gradually, dont push urself too much other wise u could tear a ligament ect. stretch out after a workout, dont eat just b4 u need to digest ur food 1st, make sure u get alot of sleep that mends ur body lets u un-winde properly xx

You can drop a barbell on your head in weight lifting..

I think Can Bee is in my exercise class!

what can go wrong when exercising? not much really if the person is healthy enough to exercise.

technically the only bad form of exercise is the one that is performed improperly. with exercise injury occurs for 2 main reason. the first would be when using weights with improper form. the second is due to muscle imbalances. say for example people that do hundreds of abdominal exercises weekly but neglect the opposing muscle in the lower back. over time this creates a serious muscle imbalance making lower back injury much more likely in the future.

in general most people never achieve the results that they desire from exercise because the do not push themselves hard enough. the body and central nervous system only adapts to the intensity of exercise not the exercise itself.

you can injure yourself if you don't use the equipment properly

Jogging on a hard surface (such as pavement) without warming up can harm the leg joints especially the knees, especially if you do that a lot for a few years. For many types of exercise not warming up can cause damage in the long term because you'll be trying to push cold muscles close to their limit.

Running on hard surfaces while wearing shoes without much cushioning in the sole will increase the jolt on the legs and can cause leg joint damage in the long term.

Weight training with bad body posture can cause problems. For example, lifing heavy weights without bending the knees can result in back problems.

Accidents can happen with equipment as the first poster in here pointed out. A failure in the structure of some gym equipment can bring some very heavy weights crashing down onto your body.

What would happen if you were running very fast on the treadmill and there was a sudden power outage? (Some treadmills may have a power backup to prevent this but I suspect not all of them.)

Some sports have the danger of injury due to person to person collision - team sports such as soccer, also squash.

An accident when swimming alone can be deadly (eg: hitting head on the bottom or side of the pool, getting caught in a strong current when swimming in the sea, etc.)

You could injure your ankle, your neck, your leg(s), your back or other soft tissues in the body.

The equipment could snap or break without you expecting it.
You can fall or slip from the equipment.

Equipment can be faulty without knowing and once it is used it falls apart or becomes damaged.

At an event, like a fair, e.g. roller coaster can run off the tracks, or swing rides can become detached, due to faulty rope(s) or cable wires. You can hang in mid-air on roller coaster due to faulty cables. On a Ski Ride, cables can become dislodged and you hang in mid-air until you are rescued.

If you're not doing an exerise properly then you can do yourself more harm than good, ie if you're doing resistance training at the gym and you let your elbows or knees lock, it can do damage in the long term. Plus not stretching/overdoing it etc which people have already covered.
