Why cant my calves build up?!


Question: i have very chicken leg. no calf. i can wrap my fingers the same distance around my ankle, same to calf.

even though it is very strong!! I weigh 80 lb, and i used 135 lb on the excersize machines at the gym! that is so much! even the tom-bboy/strong girl and some of the boys thought i was crazy, they cant even do that much (it is on the leg press machine).

but still, my calf is too skinny with no muscle, and it prevents me from being able to bend down and touch my toes.

my orthopeaidist said "i donno" so i got reffered to physical therapy, but my mom keep forgeting to call them, she was supposed to 2 month ago but she alway forget.

why my calves like this and what do i do besides physical therapy?

It would be rare for the calf to prevent you from touching your toes...it is most frequently the hamstrings. Then, it is also not an issue of muscle mass, it is an issue of flexibility.

Yet, wheather it is your calf or your hamstrings (or even hip or back), flexibility is the issue...not lack of muscle.

It was silly of the orthopedist to refer you to physical therapy unless you have some other significant functional limitation...he could have just as easily taught you watch stretches to do in 5 minutes.

Just start stretching your calf and hamstrings several times a day.
