1,000 Calorie a day diet?!

Question: Will it work? My Dr. tells me it will, just to make sure what I eat is high in protein and low in carbs, is this true?

It will only work for a short time and then your body will go into starvation mode and you will stop losing weight.
Apparently your Dr(I question his judgement) didnt tell you that.
You will have better and long lasting results with 1500 a day and exercise. And yes,go easy on carbs but dont eliminate them completely.

Yeah it will work for sure IF YOU STICK TO IT! That's the key of getting fat off! just be patient and make it a life long change. You can do it! Exercise too! Really really helps!

your Dr. knows next to nothing about dieting for fat loss general practice MD's are not trained on such topics. they may spend only several weeks on the topic in med school.

you need to determine your BMR and add 500 calories on top of that. then slowly reduce your calories until weight loss occurs. when weight loss slows you simply reduce the calories again by 10% each week until it starts again. drastically reducing the calories while increasing the daily level of exercise at the same time is a sure fire way to slow the metabolic rate which impeded fat loss not enhances it. you also need to track your body fat %. by tracking the body fat % you "know" where gains and losses on the scale are occurring vs. guessing and assuming that it's all fat which is a mistake that most dieters make. weight lost on the scale is always a combination of water, fat and muscle.
