What can you take to ensure good prostate health?!

Question: Zinc is the necessary mineral for the prostate. However, if you take too much zinc, it will deplete your body of copper. Copper is the necessary mineral for your adrenal glands. An imbalance of these two minerals can cause lot of issues. Having said that, most men, especially, are deficient in zinc when Americans are tested. The body requires balance and continually strives for maintaining a balance. Taking food supplements that are single element, can be very harmful. It is a good idea to be tested for zinc deficiency and to test your prostate & adrenal functions on a regular basis if you are concerned about those organs. The best people to test them are QRA qualified practitioners. Good endocrine balance is directly dependent upon good blood sugar regulation. If you are eating a really good diet, high in minerals and have no infections in your body, you will have a good chance of having a healthy prostate.

Stay away from ALL drugs unless you are in a life threatening situation. ALL drugs create free radicals.

Have your teeth looked at by a good, qualified biological dentist. Don't go to the typical dentist on the street corner. They have caused so many health problems it is just incredible. In regard to dental and your prostate, look at your front teeth because these reflex directly to your prostate glands. If you have any infections, amalgam fillings, etc. you need to deal with that immediately to assure a good healthy prostate.

Whatever you do, stay FAR AWAY FROM SOY products. Tofu was developed to make monks not want sex. It works. Soy is loaded with goitrogens that slow your thyroid functions (drug companies warn against eating soy when taking thyroid medications), loaded with phytoestrogens that deplete your body of male hormones and soy is loaded with the heavy metal Aluminum. Buy the book called, "The Whole Soy Story" to learn all about soy; it's origins and how that industry has bought it's way into the American diet.

Most of all, be careful of people that recommend single element supplements because they can severely damage you. Stay totally away from commercial tablets and gel caps. All of these types of supplements contain Magnesium Stearate and other very harmful excipients. Each tablet contains a minimum of 5% of Magnesium Stearate that is an immune suppressant, TRANS FAT, and nutrient absorption inhibitor! Total the number of milligrams in any given tablet and you can calculate the amount of this garbage in it by multiplying the total by .05. 1,000 milligrams = 50 milligrams of this TRANS FAT.

good luck to you

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) - acts as a natural anti-inflammatory.
Lycopene - In a study of over 40,000 health professionals, Harvard investigators found that men who ate more than 10 servings tomato-based foods daily (like cooked tomatoes and tomato sauce,) had a 35 percent lower risk of developing prostate cancer than those who ate the least amount of these foods. The benefits of lycopene was more pronounced with advanced stages of prostate cancer. Try eating processed tomatoes, they work best (ketchup, tomato sauces).
Avoid alcohol and excess diary consumption.
Add selenium to your diet. Men with high blood levels of selenium were about half as likely to develop advanced prostate cancer as the men with lower blood selenium.

Take saw palmetto berry extract. Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) helps inhibit conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a substance that adversely affects prostate health. I recommend 160 mg of extract twice daily.
Include more soy in your diet. Some researchers now believe that the increasing estrogen-to-testosterone ratio is one of the factors that adversely affects the size of the prostate gland.

Because soy has been found to restore the proper estrogen-to-testosterone ratio that becomes skewed as men get into their 60s and beyond, I recommend you include 2 ounces of soy in your diet per day.

Good sources of soy include: tofu (soybean curd)
fermented soy products like miso and tempeh
roasted soy nuts
soy flour or powder

Include at least 15 mg of zinc once a day. Pumpkin seeds (in the shell) are excellent sources of zinc and the essential fatty acids necessary for healthy prostate function.

Eat good healthy balanced food plan, see the doctor for checkups annually, and exercise regularly.

If you are in good health, don't worry about the supplements. Mostly they just lighten your wallet.
