I would really like to lose 15 pounds.?

Hi, im 14 years old and 5' 3", and my weight seems to jump around from 114 to 122. Last summer i weighed 103, and i havent gotten any taller. I can usually hide my wieght pretty easily, but its getting so hard now that i hardly like to leave the house.
I would like to be healthy by the end of the summer [august 28].
Ive started running every morning for about 20 minutes, but i find it hard to control my diet, seeming as its summer vacation.

Advice, please?

At 14, you are still growing and going through the last stages of puberty. You need to expect your weight to fluxuate a bit.

Good for you for starting to run! That's commendable. Now to help you get healthy, here are some things you can do:

1. Increase your running time. 20 minutes isn't going to burn much fat, but 30-45 minutes will. Work up a good sweat and get your heart pounding.

2. Pick up another exercise that you enjoy (swimming, tennis, rock climbing, whatever) and do it in the afternoon at least 3 times per week. More would be better.

3. Drink plenty of water. Next to breathing, water is the best thing you can do for your body.

4. Only you can control what goes into and out of your mouth. You have to make that choice to eat healthy. Eat all the fruits and vegetables you can stand. You don't have to totally cut out sweet treats, but try not to eat chips or drink soda. And don't eat anything 3 or 4 hours before going to bed.

5. It is summer vacation........have fun being young while you can. Leave the house and be happy. You will not get this summer back.
