breakfast should typically be the highest calorie meal of the day to jump start the metabolism and to get the body out of the hypoglycemic state (low blood sugar). as the day goes on and the level of activity decreases so should the caloric intake. as the saying goes "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper".

Yes becuase you have all day to burn them off rather then if you do later on in the day.
