Can this be done? what machines in the gym are best to use?
I am going to try to avoid bread as i feel this bloats stomach big time.

Answers:

If you went on a fruit fast for a week you would probably loose that amount or close to it.
Its a very bad way of loosing weight though as you loose mostly water and as soon as you stop fasting the weight comes back again.

One of the best ways to burn fat is to do a form of aerobic exercise which gets you to around 60% of your maximal heart rate.
Your maximal heart rate is calculated by taking the average resting heart rate for your age and what it should be if you do sustained aerobic exercise. So if you were a fit man and went for a 1/2 hour leisurely jog it would probably go up by about 120%. So if it was 75 at rest it would raise to 155-160bpm during aerobic activity. This is your maximal heart rate. Your maximum heart rate would be much higher (over 200) but you would not be able to sustain that period of acitivity.
To burn fat most efficiently you need to do an activity which goes to about 60% of the maximal. Its best to do this for more than 20 minute bursts which is why walking is so good for you and you never see any fat postmen.
Weight training does not significantly raise you heart rate so you will not loose weight doing this on its own.
If you went on an intense exercise program doing at least 1 hour of Aerobic exercise per day went on a very calorie restricted diet eating lean meat and white fish with low storage carbs like bread and potatoes and high fibre (lots of fruit and veg in the diet) you could loose a significant amount of weight although you'd be unlikely to loose 15lb in less than 3 weeks.

Why not aim to loose 2 stone in 4 months? This is far more achievable and you are more likely to maintain it.
