Will protein bars make me fat?!

Question: I always need my protein or I just don't feel right. I'm somewhat active, but I'm just eating them for food. They fill me up nicely and I don't eat near as much if I am eating them. I'm not looking to gain weight or muscle, if anything I would want to lose weight. So, do you think they will just make me fat?

If individuals consume protein in excess of their caloric and protein needs, the extra protein will not be stored as protein. Unfortunately such extra protein is converted to and stored as fat. As a result, if individuals consume large amounts of extra protein in addition to their regular dietary intake, any weight gain would very likely be in the form of fat.

Another important point to keep in mind is that the excess protein may lead to dehydration, because protein metabolism requires extra water for utilization and excretion (i.e., elimination) of its by-products. Since exercising individuals are already at an increased risk for dehydration, the additional strain of protein waste excretion may further promote dehydration.

Excess protein has also been shown to lead to an increase in the loss of urinary calcium. A chronic calcium loss, due to excess protein intake, is of particular concern because it may increase the risk of osteoporosis, especially in women.

so control your protein intake if you have already stop working out.

No protein bars wont make you fat, protein convert fat into muscles.... so if you keep eating them you'l be musclar before being fat

I'm not sure about all protein bars but my friend takes isagenix protein bars and they help him. He says they also help to fill you up. If you want e-mail me and I can give you his contact info and he can tell you more about it.

protein bars are loaded with fat and sugar

they may not make you fat but they will keep your from a 6 pack

Eat Special K Protein Cereal... and/or drink Special K Protein Water..

Anything can make you fat if you eat too much of it. Thats like old Garfield cartoon where is downs a whole package of diet candies, and says, "A couple more boxes of these, and I'll be thin as a rail."

You have to monitor your calories eaten vs. calories burned. You eat extra protein if you are working out with weights and want to build muscle. If you just eat protein all day, and don't exercise properly, you will get fat.

they will make you fat if you dont excersise regularly.
