Attempting to lose weight ... What should I eat for breakfast?!

Question: I think I've got the rest of my 'meals' sorted out, little snacks throughout the day rather than large meals.

Anyway, I usually have nothing for breakfast, now I've realised - well, been told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

I was thinking of having:
1 glass of orange juice freshly squeezed using 3 oranges.
1 glass of chilled water.
1 bowl of Shreddies.
1 slice of toast lightly spread with low fat strawberry jam.

I have no idea if that is the right sort of plan to go by?
Help is appreciated, I am quite open with foods so I don't mind trying new things, I am open for suggestions.

Thank you!

Yes, it's always good to have fruit juice at breakfast, particularly citrus as citrus fruits are good fat burning foods. Water is also good to drink while having breakfast as it is good for the metabolism.

Make sure that you choose a variety of breakfast foods so that you don't limit yourself. Some good breakfast foods include:
-Live yogurt/plain yogurt with chopped fruit
-Live yogurt and granola oats or rolled oats
-Oatmeal
-Muesli
-Special K
-Fruit smoothies
-Fruit salads
-Shreddies (and many other wholegrain/high fibre cereals)
-Boiled/scrambled eggs
-Toast with jam/marmalade
-Wholemeal pancakes (with a serving or fruit is amazing)

You can select a few items from the list to make a complete breakfast or you could have them on their own. Entirely up to you, these are just a few suggested foods for breakfast which are good for slimming and help you feel satisfied and energised until it's time for your next meal or snack. Hope that was helpful.
Take care

i was told one of the best breakfasts is organic porridge oats cos they have lots of soluble fibre and they keep you feeling full all morning cos oats are slow-release carbohydrates

Nothing

Porridge.Fills you up and stops you snacking and it's very good for you.

orange juice, toast with jam or alone, and a bowl with cereal

its ok, I guess, but I would personally have porridge, it fills you up for longer- and warmer foods will fill you up more then colder foods, so I would swap the chilled water for a herbal tea or a green tea (even a tea with milk would be ok, just use skimmed milk)

I like the orange juice idea but think your better off eating the oranges for all the vitamins that are in the pith and fiber that you will miss if you squeeze them (plus theres more calories in three oranges then just the one)

Shreddies are good, but wheat based which you may find ok, some people find this irritates thier bowls, otherwise this is fine, but again, you'd be better off with a bowl or porridge. -even musesli as its more for your stomach to digest so your likely to not feel as hungery so soon afterwards. Always weigh your cereal or porridge or museli, its amazing how what you think is 40 grams actually becomes 100grams!

The toast? is it whole grain? again, white and refinded (and actually brown bread too if its not multigrain typed) will raise your blood sugar and then you will have a blood sugar drop and feel hungry round about an hour later, I would have a ryevita with wholegrains in, even two if your really hungry, have some light spread on them, or have a banana.

Goodluck.

You can not gain any weight with this breakfast: a packet of kashi go lean cereal or alternate with the kashi go lean packet of oatmeal on a couple days, OJ, fruit and a regular Yoplait yougurt (it can be a fruit kind too), and put soymilk in the hot cereal/or oatmeal (which you just microwave a couple minutes). However, if you want to gain weight, eat two packets at breakfast. And if you really want to lose it, quit the snacks throughout the day, this breakfast tides one over until lunch. Drink water too. Grapefruit or Cranberry juice especially. And soymilk, if you're not allergic to soy, I recommend Silk.

Hell I melted off 5 pounds in a month on this diet and no exersize (cause I've been studying for a big test...ha). But do eat a big lunch and dinner and try to throw in a salad or veggies with those meals. Cut out the junk food totally. Even try going vegetarian with eating fish every now and then. You'll never have to worry about going up in weight again.

And another good idea is to eat lunch or dinner, but not both, get it down to where you only eat two meals a day. This is found to be good because the body produces less glucose and is not aggravated so much as compared to stuffing your face throughout the whole day! And no caffiene. Only starbucks once in awhile. And tea sucks it stains your teeth.

And don't weigh your food! Or count calories! Please. I think everybody has a good idea of what kind of food they're eating when they stop to think about this. And here's some more food for thought (no pun intended) have you ever heard of someone becoming obese by eating mostly veggies and fruits? No. Thought so.

Try having 30 - 40 g muesli and mix it with some low fat natural yogurt. It is filling and tasty, healthy and about 250 calories.

Or try having a couple of slices of wholemeal medium sliced toast with jam or marmalade but no butter.

Good luck

i dont eat breakfast usually cos im trying 2 lose weight myself. i u want to lose, just have a glass of water and a cup of coffee (black cos milks fattening).

Depends on your weight goals and your current state, but a good choice would be oatmeal, some protein and a green apple.

scrabbled egg on brown bread/porridge/ oats / yogurt and banana
