Does anyone feel that the government does not do a good job with teaching health!

Question: I think people should do research on their own but lets face it people are too lazy to do that and look to the government for diet advice. I mean as a bodybuilder, the bodybuilding community is light years ahead of the government as far as nutrition. I mean some of the advice they give are laughable. Just my thoughts. If you disagree with me give reasons why.

in general the federal government does a horrible job in terms of the education on health & fitness that is mandated in public schools. however it is the responsibility of the individual to really learn about healthy eating and the importance of regular exercise. if people spent half as much time educating themselves on these topics as they do watching mindless reality tv shows and sports our country would not be in the sad health state that it's currently in. unfortunately the main function of the federal government is to keep the capitalist machine running and not to protect the people.

it is rediculous how far ahead the bodybuilding community is in regards to health and science. many things that these so called government "experts" come out with today have been know by us bodybuilders for decades now, it is both laughable and sad.

Don't expect some government official to take you by the hand , and lead you through life . There are plenty of government pamphlets advising on food diet , The problem is that few want healthy food , they want delicious food - - and tons of it . It's all there if you really want it .

I've been thinking about it.
Have you noticed that people with lots of money are (for the most part) fit? It seems to me that maybe if a bag of apples were as cheap as a box of twinkies, we may not have such a weight problem in our country.

Isn't up to the government to watch what we eat.The information is available, people choose what they do and don't want to eat.So many are in a hurry and fast food is easy.

Just like cigarettes.Everyone knows they are bad for you,but thousands still smoke.Even though the are high priced.

Unfortunately a lot of the nutritious food is expensive and to feed an entire family would simply cost to much.Besides being to lazy to get up and move.

The people that are too lazy to do any research on their own are too lazy to pay any attention to what any one says about what to eat. The government shouldn't be involved in that at all. Too much government in peoples business. Their parents should be doing it or at least in school. But that doesn't seem to be happening either.
