Why it is that most people say cut out potatoes when you are trying to lose weig!

Question: often you find jacket potatoes included in diet books?

Answers: often you find jacket potatoes included in diet books?

Potatoes r not per se bad as food but they create lot of calories if fried or taken with cream or butter.

Eat only when hungry and not more than three times a day. Include plenty of vegetables and fruits in ur food. Eat slow, chewing each morsel at least 32 times. This activates ur body to send signals that u have enough. No snacks or drinks in between except water.

Take light exercises and walking for about 30 min every day preferably twice a day.

Be patient to see the results in hassle free mode in reasonable time.

Potatoes aren't the problem, it's the butter, sour cream, grated cheese, mayonaise etc etc that you put on them that causes the problem.

I think people think potatoes are full of carbs like pasta for actual fact they don't have as many carbs and are a good supplement for energy while dieting...my answer is, I dunno but they're wrong!!

potatoes are starchy and heavy in carbs. but you have to have them at least once a week. they are 'brain' food too. jacket potato beats even spinach in iron content. and never ever peel them. all the nutrients are just beneath the skin.

i love potatoes and i'm on a diet they say potatoes are high in carbs so your best off eating them in the afternoon so that you can burn the carbs off but eating a jacket potato is far better than fish and chips so thats why they are in the diet books

Cutting out potatoes, rice, pasta and bread - is basically cutting out all the highest carbohydrate foods. Diets that recommend that u eat jacket potatoes are controlled with what u are eating with them. Like Slimming World that have green and red days. My husbands dietician told him never to mix carbs, e.g potatoes with rice. If u have a potato, have it with salad.

this is a lie. You'd better cut out pasta, which is a processed, artificial food. Potatoes are vegetables. There are ONLY 88 calories in one hundred grams of a boiled potato. Potato skin has more vitamin C than an orange! It's VERY good for your health! The problem is, people fry it, and peel off he skin, and then say how unhealthy it is. Any vegetable fried in fat is unhealthy. Never cut off potatoes from your diet: bake them, and eat then with their skins, adding some vegetable oil. You will get so little calories and so much of vitamins and nourishment. It's cheap, too, and it's the most nutritious vegetable in the world. Potato was calumniated.

Potatoes are carbs which generally are the heaviest but potatoes can be healthy...try to miss out old potatoes which are not the best for you....stick to jacket potatoes or new potatoes....just go easy on the toppings.

They are jam packed with carbohydrates(like pasta and bread), which generate energy, when this energy isn't spent, you put weight on. Body builders and gym buffs eat tonnes of potatoes and pasta etc for energy when working out. They aren't unhealthily, just don't eat loads if you don't exercise.

i have jacket potato before a work out it releases energy all day long slowly and keeps you going.
if u work out just have it with baked beans full of protein good for your muscle building. with no cheese or butter tho!
or tuna thats good protein too

Nothing wrong with all foods - yes including that slice of chocolate cake! - in moderation.

It's portion control that is the problem, you should not eat any potato that is larger than your own fist if on a diet and enjoy every mouthful.
