Im sure you work out.. thats why your asking this question...?
When I worked out,, I ate 2 to 2.5grams of protein per pound of body weight to gain muscle... some people even go to 3 to 4 grams of protien per pound of bodyweight when they are on steroids... So if I was 200 pounds I would consume 350-400 grams per day.. Drink plenty of water and take a good multi vitamin.

And like you said dont take it all from red meat,,, even if its lean because it does have a higher fat content than chicken or turkey.

If you dont work out..the minimum you want to have is .08 grams per pound of body weight...

B

you gain weight like crazy!

It depends if you work out you build lean muscles.
If you don't work out you get fat

the daily recomended allowance for protein is too low for someone who does any kind of physical activity. the RDA for protein is 60 grams. I have been taking between 250-450 gr of protein per day for the past 7 years. my body needs it. if there is excess protein, it will go through gluconogenesis... this is a process where the protein basically turns into glucose.
there are no known scientific side effects to a high protein intake. the only study i can find in the past 5 years of research was done on people who already had dysfunctional kidneys or complete kidney failure... anyone with a healthy kidney won't be affected.

hope that helps

the extra protian that you eat will leave the body as hershy squirts so unless yuo want the runs i sugest not to eat to much protein.
