My husband and I are thinking about having a baby...?!

Question: but I want to get in shape before we try to have one. I am 5'4" and weigh 130 pounds. I don't want to lose a lot of weight, I just want to be in shape. I say that I am going to start working out but I don't. I always find something that has to be done around the house and end up avoiding working out all together. Does anyone have any ideas how to get motivated? Maybe a workout that doesn't require much. Also a diet that would be good? Thanks in advance for answers!!!

I have had that problem myself and what do I do? I make working out the priority FIRST- let the house be dirty, I'm gonna go work out THEN come back and clean.

I used to put everything before working out, oh I got to go do groceries, clean, mop, laundry, and so on, so finally I was like you know what, I'm not working out more than 1 time a week this is NOT good, so I started just getting up, eating a light breakfast, then going to the gym.

You aren't really overweight or anything, but I would start working out specially when you find out you are pregnant so you don't gain more than you need to, and I hear consistent working out helps you later on when you are in labor.

If you are gonna start working out, don't do it half assed either.

Maybe you and hubby can start walking in the evenings after dinner? Or before dinner? A few times around the block so you both can enjoy some fresh air.

yeah. he does too. man i bet he's happy.

i have same situation, i am waiting for replies to this question.

water aerobics are great because they're fun, it's summer and it won't put a lot of pressure on your joints.

your weight and height sound just fine, unless your a teenager 15-17. Why do you want to be skinny? It's not good.

it is a good decision to make yourself fit before pregnancy.
I think it is a team effort and your husband should support you in losing those pounds.. a good way is to ask your husband to join you working out and eating good foods.
try sports.

well congrats. on plaing to have a baby. but getting is sharp it the hard thing but if you have the wil you will be able to do it.

like you said, getting in shape and losing weight are different things.. getting in shape is mostly accomplished through exercise, but your diet does factor into it as well.. you need to increase your protein intake and decrease your fat intake.. increase the amount you exercise.. make sure you strength train, do cardio, and work on flexibility..

Low cal diet... and you will just need to exercise! Can you exercise in the middle of the day? or in the morning? Its more important for you to exercise than it is to do housework...for you and for the baby. We are going to try getting pregnant soon, too, so I joined a gym and I go to the group exercise classes 4 times a week. They are usually an hour long, but they are fun so it makes the time fly! Another good motivator for me is knowing that if I am not in shape by the time I get pregnant, I will gain a lot of weight during the pregnancy and it will be MUCH harder to lose afterwards... Plus...if you start getting in shape now, your hubby won't be able to keep his hands off you, which will make the baby making much more fun =0)
