It wouldn't hurt to use the search feature, you won't have to wait for someone to post an answer!. I've answered this question 3 times before, so I'll just cut and past from there:

Naturally occuring fatty acids occur in the "cis" configuration!. Certain types of food like margarine, are processed, turning their fatty acid into the "trans" configuration!.

The human lipase enzyme (breaks down fat to fatty acids, so it can be absorbed by cells) is specific to the cis configuration!. This enzyme can hydrolize the cis double bond, resulting in two lower molecular weight fatty acids that can be further metabolized!. The human lipase enzyme is ineffective with the trans configuration, so trans fat remains in the blood stream for a much longer period of time and is more prone to arterial deposition and subsequent plaque formation!.

The primary health risk identified for trans fat consumption is an elevated risk of coronary heart disease!. While the mechanisms through which trans fats contribute to coronary heart disease are fairly well understood, the mechanism for trans fat's effect on diabetes is still under investigation!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's all of a sudden "more evil" because if youve looked around lately americans are huge, and they've been able to link it with trans fat!.
Trans fat are harder to break down in the body!. they up the bad cholesterol and lower the good cholesterol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
