Can dieting too much make you fatter?!

Question:

Can dieting too much make you fatter?

Okay, I am 26 and have worked oput hard for the last five years. I also have a strict diet, too strict sometimes. well I recently heard that if you diet too much or take in too few calories, your body will store fat when you do eat and its usually around your belly. Is this true? cuz I dont want to lose my abs. Also, can extreme diets cause hair loss or not eating green vegatables cause hair loss? is there any great supplements that can help with this issue?

Answers:

it's true if you're depriving your body of the nutrients it needs. and this is VERY true of yo-yo dieting. what happens is that your body goes into starvation mode which causes it to store everything it can. if you've led a happy, healthy, active, well-balanced eating life, you've really got nothing to worry about. but if you've been yo-yo dieting, then yes, worry...and stop! and never eat less than 1000 calories...and even that's too much! 1500 to 2000 calories to maintain healthy physique is good. you also have to take into account the amount of calories burned.

the only time you lose hair from extreme dieting is if once again, you're depriving yourself, almost anorexic like. hair loss is cause by vitamin deficiency which most anorexics suffer from since they don't get the nutrients they need.

never heard of losing hair if you don't eat green vegetables, but it could be that green vegetables have the most vitamins, especially dark green, leafy vegetables which are full of iron and calcium, so don't skip.

you won't need supplements of any kind if you eat right and don't abuse your body. eating right and staying active will help you now AND later in old age...but it has to be balanced, too much of ANYTHING can lead to problems when you're older. always think ahead.
