Answers:

Join a competitive swim team. Instant six pack.

Alternatively, if you value your life, you may consider less drastic measures. I suggest starting with basic half situps and leg ups. These exerices are easy and require no equipment. Half situp can either be done starting in the laying position and lifting yourself half the situp distance, holding for a second, and then going back down, or starting in the full up position, lowering halfway, hold, and return. Leg up are done in two ways as well. Lay on your back and raise your legs until they are straight up, then return to the starting position. Or, hang onto a bar and attempt to raise your legs until they form a 90 degree angle with your body. In both these exercises keep your knees straight all the time.

The most important factor in any of these exercises is not how many you do, but how fast you do them. A good situp or leg up should be nice and slow, taking several seconds at least.

As for how fast you will gain abs, it really depends. Look at your relatives, do any of them have abs? A primary influence on your ability to gain muscle is genetics. However, just because they do not have muscle does not mean that you can't possibly get any either.

To get noticable abs by the end of summer would be a tough goal to accomplish, but may well be worth the effort. Do not get discouraged if you see little growth at first. Usually, you will work out for a lot time with little growth, and then hit a growth spirt. Also, even if you fail to accomplish abs by the end of this summer, don't wait until the last minute for next summer, instead, keep a regular exercise going and you will have abs, no problem.

Also, look online for a variety of other ab exercises. The worst thing that can happen is complete boredom and stagnation in your routine.
