Both. It's important for your body to have protein before and after a workout, but don't over-do it. Most protein supplement companies make you think you need excessive amounts of protein, so you use tons of their product. That's not good for you though, what I would suggest is to eat high protein before working out, giving enough time for your body to start digestion before working out. Then eat around an hour after working out. Most important, don't eat to much protein, it will have adverse effects on your digestive system.
