Is it normal to gain a little weight when you first begin to start working out?!

Question: Is it normal to gain a little weight when you first begin to start working out!?
I have heard that people sometimes gain a few pounds when they first start to work out because they are building muscle!. I just started working out regularly and I have noticed I gained 5 lbs!. Just wondering if that is typical!? I am of course working out to get fit and loose weight, so gaining a few pounds isn't fun to see!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes this can happen as muscle weighs more than fat and therefore, when you start working out, the muscle gain can make you put on a bit of weight!. However, this will then start to work in the opposite way as the muscle increases your metabolism and you will start to burn the fat quicker than you would without exercise!. It is crucial that you eat regularly (although healthily) to keep your metabolism working efficiently, and include some light, regular weights in your exercise routine as this will help!. I know because I am in same boat but a few weeks further down the line - I have now lost 8 kg in a month but like you, gained the first week!. Good luck, it's not easy is it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

this happened to me to!. I think it's just muscle!.!.!.!.!. I hopeWww@Answer-Health@Com

Definatly cos when you work out you use what you;ve eaten and becasue you use your muscle when you work out the muscles get stronger and heavier there's nothing to worry about, it's completly normal!. I've started working out too ( ignore my name i am really not fat ) and i've noticed it tooand i used to worry but i found out it's nothing to worry aboutWww@Answer-Health@Com

Make sure you aren't overcompensating by eating more just because you are working out!. Don't think that just because you are working out, you can suddenly eat anything!.

Also, make sure you weigh yourself at the same time each day (I recommend first thing in the morning, before breakfast, without clothes), as weight can fluctuate throughout the day!.

If you are crash dieting (eating hardly anything), this can also have a negative effect (weight gain) at first because the body goes into survival / starvation mode and will hold onto and store ANY food that it is given!.

If you're already doing everything correctly, don't stress out!. Keep working out and the weight will come off!. Eventually, you will plateau (depending on how much you weigh to begin with) and you will see your body start to be more defined (muscular)!. You may gain a little weight at that point, but you probably won't gain inches, because it will just be muscle weight and muscle weighs more than fat!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on what kind of working out you're doing!.

If you're lifting weights, of course it's normal, because you're building up muscle!.

Running though, doesn't build muscle, it works your cardio, which is just breathing more easily!. Also it burns calories like a beast :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

A woman gains muscle and muscle weight weight after 6-8 weeks of weight training!. The weight that you see on the scale is probably water weight!. It can fluctuate between 1-3 lbs in just a day!.

You need to gauge your weight loss in other ways like the fit of your clothes!. I have a scale that measure my bone density, muscle weight, and water percentage, do I know what's really going on with my body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. Measure yourself at your waist, arm(where your bicep is), stomach(the part that sticks out the most), thigh(inner part-largest),
calf(again, the largest part)!. You will be surprised to see the changes when you measure the difference!. You should only weigh and measure yourself once a month, as there is fluctuation!. After the first couple weeks usually you will see a drop in weight, as the newly developed muscle begins to burn the fat! Keep goin girl! You will really notice a difference in your metabolism!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It could be due to the water retention during the periods!. Please check if that's the case!. Because normally you wont put on weight unless you eat/drink a lot!. (People tend to have more food when they start to go to gym!. )!. A little soreness is normal after you first start exercising but gaining weight is not due to the workout!. One more point!.!.!. Fat never turns into muscles!. When you work out, fat is used up as energy for the workout!. And muscles grow larger because weight training!. So if the above are not the case you will need to contact an expert!.
Cheers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
