Never tried it but I hope this helps :

What is Digestive Advantage!?
Digestive Advantage is a supplement which helps to maintain the balance of good bacteria in the intestines, as well as providing enzymes which can digest carbohydrate sugars!.

There are now a range of different Digestive Advantage products for different conditions and symptoms, including IBS, gas prevention, constipation, lactose intolerance, and Crohn's Disease!. This page is mainly focused on the product specifically made for IBS sufferers, which is called Digestive Advantage IBS, and comes in chewable or non-chewable caplet form!.

This is what the manufacturers say about the product (this is a quote from their website):

"Recent research has found that carbohydrate sugars such as lactose and fructose are associated with the symptoms of IBS!. The patented cultures in Digestive Advantage IBS help provide the enzymes that are deficient in those with IBS!. Individuals with IBS have had relief of symptoms with antibiotic treatment, leading some to suspect an underlying bacterial cause for some symptoms!. Digestive Advantage helps to control and inhibit the growth of pathologic bacteria in the gut!."
What symptoms can it treat!?
Digestive Advantage can treat diarrhea, constipation, gas, and other common IBS symptoms!.

How is Digestive Advantage taken!?
Two tablets are taken for the first two days of treatment, and then one tablet is taken daily from then on!. It can be taken safely on a long-term basis!. You may notice some gas or wind during the first few days of treatment but that should gradually disappear!.

The product is available in two forms - chewable tablets (32 tablets per pack), and non-chewable tablets (92 tablets per pack)!.

The manufacturers of Digestive Advantage IBS have recently changed the formula of the chewable tablets slightly, to make them sugar-free and dye-free!. This means that the chewable tablets now contain the artificial sweetener sucralose (the sweetener which is used in the brand name Splenda)!. IBS sufferers can be very sensitive to artificial sweeteners and I have had a couple of bad reviews about the new formula, so I contacted the manufacturers, Ganeden Biotech, to see why they made the change:

"We want to assure you that based on our testing and our ingredient specialists, we are fully confident that our new IBS formula is highly efficacious and is actually a superior product!. Our rational for the new formula was to take the sugar out to improve digestion, and remove the artificial dyes due to consumer concerns, while maintaining a chewable pill!. To maintain an acceptable product taste, we added an extremely small amount of Sucralose, just 0!.77mg compared to a typical serving size (one packet of artificial sweetener), which contains 11!.9mg of Sucralose!.
While we are confident in the new chewable formulation, we understand that some consumers have a concern with artificial sweeteners and we have another option for those IBS sufferers!. Digestive Advantage IBS (non-chewable) Caplet version, with no added sugar or sweeteners, is available for sale in a 92-count box at Costco Wholesale Clubs and online at drugstore!.com, CVS!.com and other online retailers!."
If anyone has a question about the new formula you can contact Ganeden Biotech directly (toll free in the US) at 1-866-777-0825 or email info@ganedenbiotech!.com!.

As a reminder:

the formula of chewable Digestive Advantage tablets (32 tablet packs) has recently changed and now contains a small amount of sucralose

the formula of non-chewable Digestive Advantage (92 tablet packs) has not changed at all and does not contain sucralose!.

How successful is Digestive Advantage in clinical trials!?
In a placebo-controlled double-blind study, conducted at Research Testing Laboratories, New York (Larysa Hun, MD, Naomi deSola MD, Linda Bongiovanni, RN), 22 patients were given Digestive Advantage IBS and 22 were given a placebo over a period of 60 days!. Patients kept diaries during the study and attended follow-ups!.

Patients who were taking Digestive Advantage IBS showed steady and significant improvements in their symptom scores relating to abdominal pain and bloating!. No adverse symptoms or side effects were reported!.

Conclusion: Digestive Advantage can produce significant improvements in IBS symptoms!. However it should be noted that this study has not been published in a peer-reviewed journal!.
