Exercise after hernia surgery???!

Question:

Exercise after hernia surgery???

I had a inguinal hernia repair surgery in mid march and it is healing well. My doctor told me to wait at least 6mos before resuming my full exercise, but i'm antsy! I'm a medical assistant and i know that i should listen to my doctor, but i'm starting to feel the effect of not working out.
I eat right, and have only gained 5 lbs in the last 3 mos from not working out. Now, considering i lost 30lbs exercising and eating right and i want to keep it off, i'm doing ok, i think. I also induced my hernia by overworking myself.
i really want to start on my abs because they are extremely flabby. I also did a lot of cardio to lose weight and i'm feeling sluggish from not working out. What can i do to prevent anymore weight gain and keep my muscles toned?

Answers:

example, the same case where you need to stop consuming alchol/smoking during pregnancy, the same way you need to take ALL your prescribed medicine even when you feel youre okay. your doctor is not going to advisd you to follow certain limitaitions regarding your health and rehabilitation just for fun, these are critical instructions you must follow, whether you gain 20lbs or more during healing so be i mean you say you are physically fit, well me too, and im sacrificing gaining over 30lbs to have a baby and not riding on a bike and jogging every morning the way i used to so that my unborn child is healthy. The outer appereance of your body has changed i can imagine, but it's to accomodate your internal. my advice to you so no future set backs to the hospital is to follow all instructions from your provider and try to be patient. .......good luck!
