Which are the best foods for a diet?!

Question:

Which are the best foods for a diet?

I will list different foods that are available. Please choose the foods that you believe will be the best. Also, please add to the list if you wish. Tell me how to prepare the food. Tell me when to eat the food. Any other information. Here is the list:

Eggs (Please tell how to prepare, like scrambled or soft-boiled)
Salad (What dressing, if any, is the best?)
Berries (Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, etc.)
Seafood (Salmon, Shrimp, Lobster, crab, etc.)
Vegetables (Carrots, Celery, broccoli, etc.)
Anything else.

Answers:

Eggs (Please tell how to prepare, like scrambled or soft boiled) -prepare these any way you like! eggs are great. for a lower calorie protein only use the white, which is only 17 calories. I like to make part egg white omelets using 1 egg and 2 egg whites. They're really filling and full of protein. Flavour them with herbs, low fat cream cheese and serve with salad. When you fry, make omelets, scramble eggs in a pan use a 0 calorie or 1 calorie spray instead of oil, a few sprays should do it.

Salad (What dressing, if any, is the best?) There are many 1 calorie light sprays which are decent, I use 1 cal spray caeser dressing. Try to go for vinegarette dressings as oposed to oily or creamy varieties. Have loads of lettuce, then add according to your own preferance raw carrot, tomato, sliced mushrooms, pepper, beansprouts etc.
If you want your salad to be more of a complete meal, try adding pieces of low fat tofu, feta, nuts such as walnuts or pulses or beans-all good sources of protein.

Berries (Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, etc.) All good, around 60 calories a cup! great on oatmeal, as a dessert with low fat yogurt, creme fraiche or low calorie icecream and a small amount of sugar or sweetener such as splender.

Seafood (Salmon, Shrimp, Lobster, crab, etc.) avoid fried or battered seafood, when possible grill, bake or roast. Lower calorie sauces for seafood tend to be more tomato based, less so cream based.

Vegetables (Carrots, Celery, broccoli, etc.) Vegetables are very good for filling you up, also try replacing mashed potato with mashed cauliflower. Boil or steam vegetables. Steaming is best as it keeps in nutrients that are lost during boiling. Resist adding butter or oil to vegetables. Soups made from vegetables are often very good for filling you up and being low in calories-if you buy these, be sure to be buying something not called "cream of ___ soup" as it may have many unneccesary calories added to it with double cream or whole milk.

Dairy wise, stick to semi skimmed or skimmed milk, or if your willing to take the risk, soya milk. I use it and find it great for replacing normal milk in everything.

Ice lollies, frozen grapes, low calorie yogurts frozen are all good ways to fill up and enjoy a sweet treat.Good luck =)
