Is it possible to still build an effective muscle mass without protein supplemen!

Question: Is it possible to still build an effective muscle mass without protein supplements!?
Over the past 2 years I've lost around 3st in changing my diet, in running 30 miles a week plus swimming!. I now weigh around 166lbs (i'm 5ft 9in)!. I don't want to lose anymore weight, I wish to build up my muscle mass!. I've started doing weight training at home with just dumbbells and a swiss ball!. I can already see improvements in my arms and abs!. Do I need to take any protein shakes or not to make it easier!? I do eat chicken already!. Any other advice!?

Thanks a lot

I think as long as you focus your diet to lean healthy forms of proteins and use complex carbs early in the day or close to your workouts, you'll get decent results!.

Beyond a multivitamin (which is something you might want to use), I don't use creatine or whey powder or anything like that!. I focus on lean meats (more beef than I probably should), trying to watch my carbs!. Only shake I may use is that Carnations Instant Breakfast!. (Good stuff that advertises the same protein as 2 eggs!.)

It all comes down to your fitness goals!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You've made yourself sound very fit and I hope you are not getting obsessed!.!.!.!.!. you know what you're like!.!.!.!.!. curtains and alarm clocks!

Hey bro,

Change the chicken diet to fish for a few weeks!. Take chicken once every fortnightly!. Fish protein is good source of protein and take low fat milk on a regular basis!. Maybe one glass every day and keep on training!. That shuld do the trick!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depending on your lifestyle, it is easier and more convenient with supplements though not necessarily better cause nothing beats natural food sources!.
Also, depending on how much muscle mass you want to gain, you will need to have an x amount of chicken, lean meat or eggs, daily, to source your protein intake !.
So if you can ,stick to your guns, go on the natural path!.
Good Luck!. Good Health!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Nobody needs protein shakes if they eat a good balanced diet!. Eating low fat meat is all you need to do!. I would suggest chicken breast and fish!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you want to build a decent amount of muscle mass, you need to eat quite alot!. but dont stock up on biscuits etc!. youll really need to try and get a hit of decent protein every few hours!.
Good protein shakes definately benifit your workout, They will help define, build and repair muscles!. Have a look at 'Maximuscle - Promax'!.
Just remember, every 6-8 workouts, mix it up so your always working the muscle in different ways!. This will also help promote muscle growth!.

Good Luck!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As well as mixing up the exercises, you can benefit from mixing up your protein sources!. There isn't a single 'perfect' type of protein to eat!. Contrary to a lot of bodybuilding mythology, the nearest you can get to 'perfect protein' is a combination of plant sources, such as BEANS and CEREALS!.

By varying and combining your sources of protein, you can maximise its availability, because different digestive processes are used for each, and most of these processes will be underused if you stick to a single source!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

they are called supplement because you don't really need them afterall you still have muscle now without ever taking supplementsWww@Answer-Health@Com
