Are those slim fast drinks actually good for you?!


Question: Are those slim fast drinks actually good for you!?
My mom is going on it and I really don't think it's a good idea!.

Drinking a shake for two meals a day and having nothing more than one o them frozen meal Slim-Fast things just doesn't seem healthy to me!.

But she's insisting that it has "all the nutrients" she needs!.

No these aren't particularly healthy, despite what the manufacturer may say!. They are highly processed and full of sugar (sugar is the third ingredient!)!. Some of their products also contains hydrogenated soybean oil, a transfat!. Plus, with a liquid diet you lose out on the thermogenics of food!.

The vitamins and minerals they use are substandard compared to whole foods!. These drinks are little better than a milkshake with a few vitamins and minerals added!. There simply is no substitute for a whole food diet consisting of foods grown from the earth or from the flesh of animals!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Over long period of time, slimfast shakes can cause a build up of protein and possibly kidney stones!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

HAhahahahahahahaha not really, but their healthy version off chocolate milk if your an addy like me!

It does have alot of vitamins, but it doesnt keep me full long enough for the to be worth the calories, fat, and carb contentWww@Answer-Health@Com

I've heard good things about Slim Fast!.!.but can't say it is healthy, or it isn't!. As long as she is taking vitamins, or eating a normal mean and things like fruit and veggies, it should be okay!.

I'd advise her to check with her doctor first though before starting any "diet," especially over the counter one's, just to be sure!. She may react to it differently than others (everyone is different) so a Dr!.'s ok is better!.

A nutritionist can also give some advice =)

im not familiar with this whole slim drink stuffs but as a healthcare professional, it doesnt seem like a good idea!. our body needs nutrients that are mostly provided by fresh food!. instead of those drinks, suggest to your mom to enroll in a dance or aerobic class, eat in moderation and eat/drink stuffs that help with the digestive system!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No they arent healthy!. There is an increased risk of serious gall bladder problems from using them!. My mom used them and her gall bladder died from it!. Learning to eat healthy and getting enough activity is a much healthier way to go!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
