Question:

I'm Eating All the Right Things...But I'm Still Grouchy and Tired. Help?

My diet consists of fruits, vegetables (both in abundance), whole wheat bread & lean chicken/fish. I'm lactose intolerant, so I eat other calcium-rich foods. I'm eating a LOT of these healthy foods. Not only do these foods bore me to TEARS (literally speaking), all I can think about is FLAVORFUL buffalo/bleu cheese chips, Slim Jims, & Twix Bars. I try to eat in moderation, but after a half hour after eating these, I feel like I've never eaten them, and I'm grumpy.

I'm constantly nodding off and I feel like KICKING THE S|-|lT out of the next person that walks by me. Any advice to get through this?

Didn't you guys see that I wrote - I *do* eat protein & fruit.

I only get like this when I'm on a diet. Otherwise I'm happy and energetic.


Answers:

Protein, you need protein for energy. Also to help with some of your cravings, try lowfat blue cheese dressing with hot sausce and celery sticks. Sounds lame, and I wouldn't do it all the time. But when the urge hits it really isn't that bad.
As far as the Slim Jim, try turkey Jerky. It has the same spice appeal, made from turkey and it is not as greasy. Also it requires more work in chewing so you will eat less in the same amount of time. As far as the Twix, sugar free chocolate pudding?
